Hommage à Joyce McDougall [out of print]
This book brings together the texts of the colloquium organized by the Paris Psychoanalytical Society “Joyce McDougall: Theatres of Abnormality”, which was held on May 5th, 2012 in Paris (René Descartes University), chaired by Bernard Chervet and organised by Paul Denis.
Joyce McDougall tackled all the registers of the practice and theory of psychoanalysis. From infantile psychosis to psychosomatic disorders, from hysteria to “normopathy”, she travelled across the spectrum of the psyche with an openness of mind and an original creativity that are recognized throughout the world. Her ideas greatly contributed to a change of perspective on homosexuality and perversions.
Rigorous in method, clear in her presentations, free in her way of seeing and understanding the scope and paradoxes of “abnormality”, Joyce McDougall illustrated in her practice and in her work what psychoanalysis has to offer today.
