The two case histories presented here, taken from his book, shows the school's philosophy in action. They describe in chronological detail the treatment that restored two apparently "hopeless" children to normal life without the use of drugs, surgery, or resistant; the setbacks and successes encountered along the way; and the lessons that the school staff as well as the children learned in the process. "Paul" was a suicidal homicidal boy who had spent his life in one institution after another from infancy on; "Mary" was a case of severe childhood schizophrenia, a condition that is being given more and more attention today
